The Blythweb Calendar publicises events open to the public which are taking place in the general area of the Blyth Valley in north-east Suffolk and occasionally also in the wider area. These events include those held in support of local and UK charities, organisations, good causes etc., which we are pleased to freely publicise. The Blythweb Calendar also features other events of interest.

Meet Local Author: David Lee

– 13:00 on Friday, 20th September 2019
Venue: see event text for venue information
Taking place at Halesworth Books, 42 Thoroughfare, Halesworth IP19 8AR. Come and meet local author David Lee. To mark the 140th anniversary of the opening of the Southwold Railway, David will be answering questions and signing his book, 'The Southwold Railway 1879-1929 – The tale of a Suffolk byway'.
Still a local resident, David Lee is now 97 and actually remembers travelling on this much-loved narrow-gauge track in the mid 1920s, just before it closed. He's spent 40 years researching its history and has co-authored this definitive, well-illustrated, hardback with Rob Shorland-Ball and Alan Taylor (now deceased). You are welcome to bring in copies you already own.
