Wednesday Night Film Club : The Conversation (1974) (PG)

on Wednesday, 25th May 2022
Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, USA, 1hr 53mins, with Gene Hackman and John Cazale. A paranoid, secretive surveillance expert has a crisis of conscience when he suspects that the couple he is spying on will be murdered. Winner of the prestigious Palme d'Or at Cannes and supposedly the favourite of his own films, Coppola's first feature following the global phenomenon of The Godfather failed to set the box office alight in the same way but was met with universal critical acclaim and is now regarded as one of the key films of the 1970's. It was released just weeks prior to the Watergate scandal and many of the themes bore an uncanny resemblance to the story that was shortly to dominate headlines around the world.
Ticket Details: Standard ticket £7. Cinema Members £5. Advance booking online.
