National Nestbox Week : Make A Nestbox

'A Desire to Deceive'-The Allure of Imitation Jewels and Gems

The SOUTHWOLD DECORATIVE and FINE ARTS SOCIETY continue with their 2017 Season of Lectures, full title 'A Desire to Deceive'- The Allure of Imitation Jewels and Gems from 1550, with Susan Rumfitt. Visitors and Members' guests will be welcome.

In today's society we are used to wearing costume jewellery and buying stones that have been enhanced to meet consumer demand. But how did this begin and when, if at all, did it become an acceptable practice? This lecture will take an
exciting journey of the intriguing behaviour of gemstone dealers and jewellers across Europe since 1500 in their uest to deceive.
