THE BAUHAUS

on Tuesday, 10th December 2019
Venue: St. Edmund's Hall, Cumberland Road, Southwold IP18 6JP link
With speaker Anthea Streeter. One of the 2019/2010 The Arts Society winter lectures. Where did mixer taps and fitted kitchens come from? Angle-poise lamps and strip lighting? The answer is the Bauhaus. This is the story of Germany’s most famous design school founded in 1919. The Bauhaus was bitterly attacked in its day and ultimately forced to close – many of its teachers and students either fled abroad or were exiled. The result is that the Bauhaus has had a worldwide impact on art, architecture and design trends ever since.
Lecture lasts approximately one hour. Tea is served afterwards.
Ticket Details: Visitors welcome. Admission by donation - £5 suggested.
